All values are now known, as shown in the chart below, except the

voltage drop across each resistor.

The calculations for the voltage drops are performed by using the

Ohm's law formulas.

ER1 = IR1 X R1

ER2 = IR2 X R2

ER3 = IR3 X R3

= 2 A X 50

= 2 A X 15

= 2 A X 35

ER1 = 100 volts

ER2 = 30 volts

ER3 = 70 volts

When the values of ER1, ER2, and ER3 are inserted into the chart below,

it is readily seen that Et = ER1 + ER2 + ER3.
