Prepare Bibliography Cards
When you decide that a reference is applicable and reliable, record it on a
bibliography card. Cross-reference or code the card to your notes to help you
identify the reference later.
Use cards of a uniform and convenient size, such as 3" x 5" file cards. They can be
stored in a file box or envelope box. This allows you to arrange them alphabetically
by author or title and to discard irrelevant sources without disrupting your list.
Enter data on the cards as follows:
Enter data on
File number. If the reference is filed in organizational files or a library, enter the
file number or library call number in the upper left comer of the bibliography card.
Reference number. Place a reference number in the upper right corner of the
card. This indicates the order in which you looked at and considered the
reference for future use.
