4. Radar. Radar has been playing an increasingly important role. It is used to detect
aircraft and vessels, direct and control guided missiles. Radar antennas are shaped to
suit their purpose, i.e., antenna masts for radio transmitters/receivers, radar antennas for
missile guidance or missile intercept with an environmental cover (dome) over them
(Figure 2-4). See subcourse IT 0676 for other radars.
