MOPP 4 -- Overgarment, overboots, mask/hood, and gloves worn.
In addition to the five MOPP levels, commanders have a mask-only
option. Personnel do not need to wear protective overgarments or
rubber gloves as long as they are protected from direct skin exposure
to liquid or solid contamination (for example, inside shelters). The
mask-only posture is not used when a blister agent is present.

c. Defense Against Biological Attack.
Because biological agents cause diseases in humans, defenses against
the agents are similar to those taken for any disease. These measures
include personal hygiene, area sanitation, and immunization.

Personal Hygiene.
Personnel should practice good personal hygiene and sanitation
discipline as a protective measure. A healthy body can fight off
germs. When the tactical situation permits, personnel should wash
themselves and their uniforms with soap and water and keep their
personal equipment in the best possible condition. Clothing should be
worn buttoned up to protect against insect bites.
