DPs equate time to specific points on the battlefield. They are determined by
comparing times required to implement decisions, enemy movement rates, and
distances. For example, if it requires two hours to implement a decision, the
decision must be made while the enemy is at least two hours from the TAI where the
event will occur. Enemy doctrinal movement rates adjusted to compensate for the
effects of the weather and terrain provide the basis for computation. Figure 5-6
depicts DPs in relation to TAI/NAI.
