The decision support matrix relates each DP to the event or associated TAI/NAI
requiring a friendly reaction. A matrix is prepared for each MC. Decisions must
be made by the time enemy forces pass DPs or a set of options which were available
may be negated. The time available for action is indicated on the decision support
matrix. Table 5-2 is an example of a decision support matrix.

NOTE:
Remember the event template (Figure 5-5) is the basis for the decision
support matrix since it provides a means for analyzing enemy probable
courses of action.
The commander is concerned with forcing the enemy commander to choose a less
desirable course of action through design. The decision support template will
frame the commander's opportunities and options and ensure timely and accurate
decisions, providing a means to influence enemy actions rather than just reacting
to them.
