In a gravel pit or quarry, bulldozers are used to scrape gravel
from the stream bed. A power shovel digs the gravel from the banks and loads it into trucks to be
dumped into a bin. Other trucks are loaded beneath the bin and transport the gravel elsewhere for
use (Figure 2-8).
