2. North Korean NBC Concerns.
North Korea poses the most immediate threat, Figure 2-7. North Korea emphasizes chemical warfare
training, and is believed to have hundreds of tons of Blister, Blood, and Nerve Agent. North Korea is
capable of employing biological weapons. North Korean BW Agents would probably include Anthrax,
Plague, and Yellow Fever.
North Korea produces Scud Missiles which could be fitted with nuclear, biological or chemical
warheads. The 500 kilometer range Scud-C can strike anywhere on the Korean Peninsula. North
Korea's nuclear weapons program is self-sufficient, from the mining of ore to the reprocessing of
reactor fuel. North Korea has built two reactors from which weapons-grade Plutonium can be
processed. Expansions at the Yongbyon nuclear complex include a facility to process spent fuel into
weapons-grade Plutonium. North Korea may have already produced the material needed for at least
one nuclear weapon.
