Rule 5: Write Short Paragraphs, Continued
In a memorandum, you should:
Paragraphs in
memorandums
Give each paragraph a clear header.
Omit unneeded paragraphs. (For example, leave out the References paragraph if
there are no references.)
Combine the Purpose and main point paragraphs if the main point makes the
purpose clear.
Identify the POC, if applicable, in the last paragraph. List the rank, name, office,
and telephone number of that person.

UNCLEAR:
Requests for fire are transmitted to battalion FDC. Battalion FDC is
in general control of battery FDCs. Upon receipt of a mission Bn
FDC will transmit an FDO order designating the FDC to process the
mission and the FD channel to be used. Observers and FDCs will
monitor and acknowledge the FDO order, automatically switch to
the designated channel, and establish contact. Affected FDC will
report by wire when contact is established, if possible.
