The antenna can be automatically set to scan in azimuth over sector widths. The automatic sector scanning can
be stopped by a control switch, and then resumed in the same or reverse direction.
The antenna can be set to searchlight, moving right or left, in response to an operator actuated control switch,
and to stop moving when the switch is released.
The radar's range gate can be made wide or narrow, 300 or 40 meters respectively. The finest range resolution is
40 meters, that is, two targets at the same azimuth must be 40 meters apart to be distinguished from each other.
The AN/PPS-5 (SERIES) radar set can track a moving target in range and azimuth. The antenna can be turned
and held on the target at any azimuth position, and the A- and B-scope range gate markers can be moved to stay
on the target. The azimuth and range indicators will then give target position to the radar.
