Air Assault Division Organization
Figure 14 represents the current structure of the air assault in the field
today. As with all of our division bases, the air assault division includes
the following elements:
o
Headquarters.
o
Combat support.
o
Combat service support.
The air assault division units reflect the current L-series TOE.
An
aviation battalion (AVN BDE) is now part of this division. An air cavalry
squadron has been added to the AVN BDE.

AIR ASSAULT DIVISION
When reviewing the air assault division organization we must keep in mind
that it is structured in a similar manner to that of the infantry division.
We have yet to discuss the infantry division.
While the air assault
division and infantry division have similarities, there are aspects of the
air assault structure which allow it to conduct much higher tempo operations
over greater ranges than the infantry division.
