The combat aviation battalion has two combat support aviation
companies to assist in divisional airmobility and movement of
infantry units.

The divisional cavalry squadron is an air cavalry squadron.

The ADA battalion only has towed Vulcans as the primary air
defense weapons system.
o
The combat engineer battalion has dump trucks organic to the
engineer companies.
This poses a mobility problem from the
standpoint of support for the mechanized and tank battalions of
the division.
The Infantry Battalion.
The infantry battalion's mission is the same as
that of a mechanized infantry battalion. The mission is to close with the
enemy by means of fire and maneuver in order to destroy or capture him or to
repeal his assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack. However, the
infantry battalion does not possess the mobility or the protection from
enemy small-arms fire that the armored personnel carrier or infantry
fighting vehicle provide the mechanized infantrymen.
