INFANTRY DIVISION ARTILLERY
Now that we have discussed the infantry division, let us consider the light
infantry division. The light infantry division is the most recent division
to be included in the Army of Excellence structure.
We will discuss the
mission, capabilities, limitations, and organization of the light infantry
division.
This section will explain how the light infantry division
force is structured to respond to geo-strategical contingencies worldwide.
Light Infantry Division -- Mission Statement
The most significant difference in the mission statement of the light
infantry division is its orientation toward light enemy forces.
The
mission of the light infantry division is to rapidly deploy to defeat
deployed forces on close terrain.
The light infantry division is
organized and structured to be able to perform its mission on all types
of terrain. It is best suited to execute its assigned mission in close
terrain which is restrictive to heavier combat forces.
The light
infantry division can be assigned missions to attack and destroy enemy
forces and to seize terrain. It can defend, delay, and conduct military
operations on urbanized terrain (MOUT). It can also conduct rear battle
