All mess and vehicular maintenance support is provided to the battalions by
teams located in the parent brigade HHC.

INFANTRY BATTALION (LIGHT)
Besides the command and control element, the battalion HHC contains a
medical platoon, a support platoon, and a communications section. It also
includes a scout, antiarmor (TOW), and mortar platoons.
As mentioned before, there are three infantry rifle companies assigned to
the light infantry battalion.
There are no organic vehicles in these
companies. Each of the rifle platoons has nine-man squads. It is important
to note that the companies are designed to be as light as possible. This
makes combat support stern in each company.
