AVIATION BRIGADE, INFANTRY DIVISION (LIGHT)
The Divisional Cavalry Squadron has one ground reconnaissance troop (GRT).
They also have a mix of HMMWV-mounted TOW missile and 25-mm gun systems, two
air reconnaissance troops (ART), and six scout and four attack helicopters
per troop.
These elements provide the division's primary reconnaissance
capability.
Three EH60As are located in the squadron HHT.
They provide
tactical,
heliborne,
jamming,
direction
finding, and
intercept.
A long-range surveillance detachment (LRSD) in the squadron
provides the division commander with a human intelligence collection
capability.
The attack helicopter provides a strong maneuver capability to the division.
It contains an HHC and three attack helicopter companies.
Each attack
company contains seven attack and four scout helicopters.
The attack
helicopter battalion constitutes the division's primary antiarmor system.
The CAB also provides responsive direct and indirect fire for close combat
units.
Two Assault Helicopter Companies contain the division's material and troop-
lift assets.
These companies can air assault the assault elements of one
infantry battalion in one lift.
