The following steps and Figure 3-4 explain the procedure used to
determine the radiation exposure status of Company A on 31 May.
Step 1.
Refer to Figure 3-1 to find the total number of platoons in
Company A on 31 May. The total is 5.
Step 2.
Add the RES numbers for all the platoons in Company A. The
total is 4. Now find where the number 4 fits under the
column for 5 platoons in Table 3-2.
Step 3.
Read the radiation exposure status which is on the same
line as the total of the RES numbers "3-7." The radiation
exposure status of Company A is RES-1.

Other Information.
The commander must also receive the following items:
NBC defense measures including the implementation of MOPP.
Locations of supporting chemical units.
Status of NBC equipment and personnel.
Now that the commander has been advised of the NBC situation, a
crossing of a contaminated area can be directed.
