Determination of Unit Radiation Status Category.
Consider the status of the 3d Platoon of Company A as shown in Figure
3-1. At the start of the period the platoon was RES-0, having
received no radiation dose. The platoon received 10 cGy on 31 May and
became RES-1 on that date (Figure 3-1).
The 3d Platoon received an additional 10 cGy on 2 June. At the end of
the day on 2 June, the unit remained classified RES-1 because the
total dose remained less than 70 cGy (Figure 3-2).
On 7 June the 3d platoon received 60 cGy, increasing the total dose
from 20 cGy to 80 cGy. After the 3d platoon received the 60 cGy on 7
June, it became RES-2 (Figure 3-3).
Now consider the status of Company A as shown in Figure 3-1. At the
start of the period, the company was in RES-0 category. However, at
the end of 31 May, four platoons in the company were in RES-1. To
determine the radiation status of a company or battalion, use the
radiation exposure status chart in Table 3-2.
