Exposure Categories.
In addition to NBC reports, the commander must have radiation exposure
information. The radiation exposure status (RES) of a soldier will be
assumed to be the same as that of his platoon. In case of
reassignment or evacuation of the soldier through medical or other
channels, the unit's radiation exposure status will go with him. A
notation of this status (RES-0, RES-1, RES-2, or RES-3) may be made on
official records. These records include the unit battle roster or the
appropriate records.
Radiation exposure status at the platoon level forms the basis for
determining radiation dose criteria. The best available estimates for
predicting the effects of radiation exposure are the basis of these
dose criteria (Table 3-1).
