incorporated into what is called the periodic chart, as shown on Page 1-39.
For each of the known elements, an abbreviation called the atomic symbol is
given on its block in the periodic chart. As can be seen in the section of the
periodic chart below, the atomic symbol for carbon is C, and the atomic
symbol for aluminum is Al.
