OVERVIEW
LESSON DESCRIPTION:
In this lesson you will learn about threat evaluation which consists of a detailed
study of the composition, organization, tactics, weapons, equipment, and supporting
battlefield systems of the enemy.

ACTION:
Continue development of the OB data base, identify the threat and
information gaps, and develop selected doctrinal templates.
CONDITION:
You will be given narrative information and illustrations from FM 34-
130.
STANDARD:
You will prepare a threat data base in such a manner as to simplify the
evaluation of enemy doctrine and capabilities in accordance with the
provisions of FM 34-130.

INTRODUCTION
The fourth function of the IPB process is Threat Evaluation. It consists of a
detailed study of the composition, organization, tactics, weapons, equipment, and
supporting battlefield systems of the enemy. This function helps determine enemy
capabilities and operations. It shows how the enemy would fight if not restricted
by weather and terrain.
