understanding of how to integrate maneuver and firepower is essential to
success on the AirLand Battlefield. The maneuver commander is responsible
for deciding how fires will be integrated into the operation plan/order.
DIVARTY Headquarters. The heavy division artillery is commanded by a field
artillery colonel. In addition to his command duties, he is the advisor to
the division commander on all fire support matters as well as artillery
matters.
He is also the fire support coordinator (FSCOORD) for the
division. Figure 10 depicts the organization of DIVARTY headquarters.
The division artillery headquarters battery contains the personnel who
operate the division artillery tactical operations center (DIVARTY TOC).
DIVARTY HQ also contains the personnel who man the fire support element
(FSE) in the division tactical operations center (DTOC.)
The division artillery has long-range weapons-locating radar in the target
acquisition battery. The DIVARTY has organic fire support sections and fire
support teams (FISTs) to support each divisional brigade combat battalion
and company.
